“Stop the removal of sand and dumping of clay immediately. The operation of this sand pit requires a Certificate of Authorization and the other requirements of provincial law must be respected. Hydrogeological tests and a source  protection plan are necessities.  The pit must not operate unless both extraction of sand and addition of clay are certified as clean, safe and legal.”

July 25: SOS Delivers Public Protests to MNA Stéphanie Vallée

On July 25, Peter Andree and Bettina Koschade of SOS met with Stéphanie Vallée to present our concerns and urge her to take action to stop the digging. At the meeting they delivered more than 3,000 signatures from SOS supporters.



August 4: Stéphanie Vallée Promises Action

On August 4, Gatineau MNA Stéphanie Vallée pledged action to protect the Wakefield Spring. She said:

"Je m'engage à faire en sorte que notre eau potable soit protégée et préservée. Ça inclut la rivière Gatineau, ça inclut également la source de Wakefield."

Mailbox at the Spring   

At the Wakefield Spring you'll now find a mailbox and some blank forms. Please join the thousands who have protested to date. Fill in your message to Stéphanie Vallée, insert it in the box, and we'll deliver it.  Here are some of the messages received in the past 2 weeks:

  • On aime la source et ont veut quelle reste.
  • We love pure spring water. We don't like pollution and dynamite!
  • I have been coming here for 36 years. I love this spring and use it regularly to provide for my family!
  • We have come here from Winchester for 20 years! What you are doing to nature will come back to you!
